OFSTED and the HOLEY KOW

Our 'Trust' school is saving neither planet nor trees
keeps sending us paper so our kids will'achieve'
The target of targets, the really must get
Is a long way from happiness we must not forget
For Janet and John have come a long way(is A* required to allow them to say )
that the thing they want most is respect and fair play
So 'best out of everyone' sounds a good call
but let's hear from those who may stutter or stall
in the drive to perfection by the stuffing of heads
to see if they're happy and spoke to Ofsted
I rather expect that they kept from the fray
To let the grandmaster have 'face' on the day

Humanitarian Aid

equality begins when we're dead
check out what bodies in Haiti said
no one seem to say much when we alive
scratching around just to survive
it takes a big rumble way underground
that tumbles our buildings and bodies around
for people around the rich world to say
let's rush out some soldiers to save the day
we'll pour in our conscience add some water and bread
at least those bodies will look like they fed

go back to thinking of those still alive
come up with a strategy that helps them to thrive

GB 4 GB

Roll up, roll up, the election has begun,
Bring forward 3 contenders,to see whose number one,
N.C = No Chance, though Cleggy is his name,
D.C = Di C Dave of fluffy policy fame.

G.B is the Gordon Brown who brought us where we are,
With help of Labour Ministers we think he is the star,
He saved us from the very brink of financial disaster,
Globally the firm consent, that GB was the master.

So step up to the plate D.C with your plan of doing nothing,
Let's make sure the voters know and give you a good stuffing
And nice NC just stand aside, for lib dems dilly dally,
We have our leader good and strong and round him we will rally.

Great Britain deserves the best for the many not the few,
So don't put us in jeopardy by wavering to blue,
That's not the inheritance your children want from you
but faith in those decisions that help us all come through.

Tory response to Global Financial Crisis

Her Majesty's Opposition in economic debate
stand back and do nothing, leaving Britain to her fate.
'It's really very simple-the markets will decide'
Who swims, who sinks, who splutters, left gasping to survive.

Eventually a policy-to slash and hack and burn,
but ensuring that the grand elite are wrapped in tax returns,
'Let the people pay' remains the gallant call
from the playing fields of Eton, the toffs from county hall.

The Tories are a change my friends, that we simply can't afford,
their menu full of menace, a minorities accord,
extreme right mobs in Europe or loss of equal pay,
their promises are destitute;our people they betray.

Billy Elliot Show

Just seen that Billy Elliot show
evoked the passion of not so long ago
when Thatcher and hate were synonymous words
communities smashed and anger stirred.

they imported coal at twice the price
cost didn't matter public funds would suffice
to demolish those men who went underground
the script had been written the last post would sound

on the men and their labour and all that they viewed
be it slag heaps and coal dust and chimneys that spewed,
you can't tell the miners it was done for their health,
it was just to secure all the power and the wealth.

Good show; made me cry

Tiger Tiger

Tiger Tiger burnin bright
Morals high and driving right
When all the world around came crashin
Media might will do their bashin
Til you have withdrawn from view
A penitent to build anew
Those special skills and gentle touch
with just one woman is too much
from you who do so little wrong
its good to hear the message strong
to us who strive but can't achieve
a slice of what is make believe
we take acclaim in dreams maybe
to walk your walk from tee to tee
hear the crowds roar out our name
but you're the one deserves the fame
we see you're human after all
and life is more than just a ball
We hope to see you back real soon
good luck, keep reaching for that moon

Power to the People

Power to the People; let the people have their power
(National Grid plan to distribute power from a proposed new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point)

When pylons march across the land hip hip hooray they say,
that power, it heats my home and bulbs to turn night into day.
Go, bedeck the mighty pylons with blades and panels too
at christmas time bright tinsel, some lights; red, white & blue.

Some don’t want nothing nuclear, no wind farms or that coal
keep the tidal power of Severn if here you’ll make a hole.
We’ll keep our lovely countryside, we do not want to pay,
nor lose money on our houses, so we will have our say.
So yes, make up your banners and march and type today,
but we co-operators want our power an equitable way.

Choose, a Liberal dose of everything where anything will do;
the elitist flatearth Tory, supporting just the few;
this Labour Co-op person says, I will campaign with you,
but I want to look at climate change and every other view,
for if we can bury hatchets we can bury cables too.

So let’s not make decisions based on prejudice or lies,
but go looking for the answers, though complexity defies,
a simple safe solution that will satisfy our lust,
for everything electrical, where everything’s a must;
we’d better mind our planet or we’ll all of us go bust.

We should gather to consider, before we bite the dust,
including those who tell me, ‘we really can’t be fussed’;
so standing for election or standing to achieve,
let’s do it for the principles, that we, perhaps, believe.
